Complex scaffolding for the Elbe Philharmonic Hall

Hamburg's new concert hall is being built at the western tip of HafenCity: the Elbphilharmonie. The building's architecture thrives on the contrast between the brick corpus, a former cocoa warehouse, and a unique glass structure. The heart of the building is a concert hall at a height of 50 meters with 2,100 seats. There are also two other halls in the Elbphilharmonie, as well as a hotel, a restaurant, 45 apartments and a freely accessible plaza offering panoramic views of the city. The building is scheduled to open in spring 2017.

The scope of the contract of Teupe & Söhne Gerüstbau GmbH includes (2007 until probably the beginning of 2017):

  • Partial scaffolding of the warehouse up to a height of approx. 30 m, above which the new building (glass facade) begins, which reaches a height of approx. 110 m at the top.
  • Scaffolding of the building with approx. 10,000 m² of weather protection tarpaulin and a total of 330 linear meters of scaffolding head enclosure.
  • In the area of the concert hall - which is the middle area between the hotel in the east and the residential area in the west - cantilevers above the attic on the 19th floor a protective roof, the so-called "hat" from.
  • .

The position of very extensive scaffolding structures in the building in all areas or components during the entire construction period is not directly visible from the outside, but in terms of volume, scope and degree of requirement significantly more demanding than the above-described facade scaffolding in the exterior.

.

In terms of volume, the room, ceiling and working scaffolds in the various building components alone exceed the external scaffolds many times over. In addition, Teupe creates numerous special constructions for a wide variety of work in all trades, which are adapted to the individual requirements of the client with object-related static proofs.

Furthermore, shoring, enclosures and auxiliary structures for various intermediate construction states on this complex large-scale construction site are among the daily demands on the work team of the scaffolding specialist.
