50th anniversary of SSF Engineers

Founded in Munich during the construction boom of the 1970s, SSF Ingenieure AG has developed into one of Germany's leading civil engineering companies. The company can now look back on 50 successful years. During this time, SSF has planned, managed and supervised countless construction projects - shaping and advancing bridges, tunnels, railroad stations and building structures in Germany and around the world.

From the motivation to design optimal technical solutions for bridges and other engineering structures, Victor Schmitt founded Schmitt & Stumpf GbR together with Dieter Stumpf in 1971. After Wolfgang Frühauf joined the company in 1988, it was renamed Schmitt Stumpf Frühauf und Partner GmbH, which gave rise to the SSF Ingenieure AG that exists today.

Currently, more than 300 engineers, architects, designers and interdisciplinary specialists develop intelligent and creative solutions for efficient construction, functional structures, high-performance infrastructure facilities and elegant buildings.

Large-scale projects in Germany and worldwide

SSF engineers have accompanied the creative, planning and construction process of countless buildings and infrastructure projects that have a significant impact on the appearance of their cities and the everyday lives of their inhabitants. In doing so, the social task has always been and remains the guiding principle and motivation of SSF Ingenieure.

Such as with the BMW Welt in Munich, which has become a crowd-puller in Bavaria with more than two million visitors annually.

Other major projects include:

  • Volkstheater in Munich.
  • Strelasund crossing to Rügen
  • IJssel Bridge in the Netherlands
  • Planning the Metro Green Line in Doha
  • U-bahns in Delhi and Algiers
  • Extension of the U-Bahn line U5 in Berlin
  • 2nd S-Bahn trunk line in Munich
  • Modernization of Dresden main station
  • New construction of a railroad line from Dar es Salam to Lake Victoria in Tanzania

Research in composite bridge construction: pioneering developments for the construction industry

As one of the first civil engineering firms, SSF Ingenieure established a dedicated department for research and development - a landmark decision for the consulting engineering firm, which specializes in structural engineering.

Composite precast construction

The engineering company develops new solutions for efficient bridge construction methods in cooperation with universities, research institutions and construction companies, such as the composite precast construction method (VFT construction method), which is one of SSF Ingenieure's most successful innovations today. With the VFT construction method and a multitude of subsequent technical innovations and innovations, especially in composite bridge construction, SSF Ingenieure takes on a pioneering role for the entire civil engineering industry.
