DYWIDAG Post-Tensioning Systems for Skye Bidge, Scotland

The free cantilever method developed by Ulrich Finsterwalder proved its continued competitiveness in this project. When it was opened to traffic in 1995, the bridge’s 250m main span at a height of 40m was close to the maximum span achievable with this method. The complete exploitation of the bearing capacity of the cross sections is achieved by an optimal distribution of prestressing force. DSI supplied 2 DYWIDAG form travellers, 102 Type MA 19-0.62" DYWIDAG Strand Tendons and stressing equipment for this impressive structure.
