Abstract:

A new 521 m long bridge has been positioned across the Woronora River using the technique of incremental launching. The new bridge provides much improved access across the Woronora River between Sutherland and Menai in the southern suburbs of Sydney. The bridge is the largest incrementally launched bridge to be constructed in Australia. With a downhill grade of 4.7% at the launching abutment, it has one of the steepest downhill launchings of any incrementally launched bridge.
