Convertible roofs - An economical solution for all-weather safety at open air events

Convertible roofs offer the opportunity to use an open air event area in a reliable way. Planning process is complex due to the special requirements on the construction. In a large scale aspects of mechanical engineering have to be integrated in a building structure. Functionality is not allowed to hide the fact that the design of the building has a wide influence on its next environs. This paper presents two recently finished projects which were designed under equal consideration of architecture and functionality.
