Abstract:

Methods for flexural strengthening of RC members.

In case of insufficient capacity of an RC structural member the decision making on strengthening or replacement is up to the design engineer. Generally, several options are taken into consideration, among others also different techniques for tension zone strengthening. This paper gives an overview on state of the art tension zone strengthening techniques with non prestressed reinforcement for bending members. Typical properties and application areas are characterised and essential criterions are summarised in a simple to handle decision matrix to support design engineers decision making process.
