Abstract:

Engineering the rehabilitation of Pittsburgh’s Fort Pitt Bridge and Fort Pitt Tunnel—a pair of structures, each more than 40 years old, that to many motorists represent the gateway to the city—involved an extensive inspection of their condition and a detailed evaluation of alternative construction methods.
