Abstract:

Cable stayed bridge in Marbella

This article, which has been presented at the Technical Joirney on cable-stayed bridges hold in Marbella on the 20th october last, explains the simplified and relatively simple structural calculations which can be made for this kind of bridges when they present little span, little width and A-Towers with double plane of cables. First and foremost, the bridge is described, its general dimensions and its support conditions. It goes on to explain the calculation under dead loads, under live loads and during construction phases. Lastly, the calculation of the assembling forces in the cables and estimation of the regulation of such forces for the final adjustment is explained. Furthermore, some explanations are given on the new single-protected strand and the resulting unit cost for bridges of this kind with little span.
