Museum of military history and its façade - planning, construction and production

The design of façades for buildings with all around inclined walls is subject to special requirements in construction and production. This article focuses on the description of structural planning of the various façades. The cladding consists primarily of metal façade elements. In partial areas a glass façade has been applied. The structure and the process of manufacturing have to comply with the architect's aim of a prefabricated industrial façade. The major challenges with this project were the ambitious oblique-angled geometry and the development of the connecting elements. The execution on site was arduous due to extreme postures required whilst working. The approach to the formation of link-details with respect to tolerances and the quality-controlled technology of mounting is presented here elaborately.
