Abstract:

Effect of the base pressure on vertical vibrations in block foundations.

The vibration velocity (for vertical excitation) was measured in a foundation block constructed on clay. The mass of the foundation was then doubled (with identical surface area) and the measurement was repeated. The analysis of the results based on the analogy technique [1] illustrates the influence of the base pressure on the spring and attenuation effect of the soil due to its non-linear stress-strain characteristics.
