Abstract:

The first part of this paper discusses the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics to selected wind-structure interactions encountered in bridge engineering. In the second part, computer simulations are applied in two examples involving the bridge deck design for two suspension bridges. Comparison of computer simulations to available experimental data suggests that computational methods are an efficient tool in the aerodynamic design of long-span cable-supported bridges.
