Abstract:

The annex to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum that recently opened in northern Virginia gives wing to hundreds of aircraft and thousands of aviation and space flight artifacts never on view before. Key to the exhibition’s impact are the enormous open-web arched trusses from which many of the treasures are suspended.
