Abstract:

The research presented in this paper proposes the use of a basic structural unit comprised of four low-cost, off-the-shelf steel pipes, combined into a single structure (the steel pipe integrated pier) using shear panels that have a hysteretic damper function. The dynamic response characteristics of the new pier structure were evaluated and are presented in this paper. Comparisons were also made with conventional standard steel piers to consider the advantages of the proposed integrated pier.
