Abstract:

The mega floating city Green Float is a new conceptual model for an environmentally friendly island city and is being developed by Shimizu Corporation, Japan. The idea is to construct artificial islands on the ocean with the aim of achieving a self-efficient zero-carbon and zero-emission city. The aim of this project is to construct a mega floating structure comprising a 1,000-m-tall mega- tower and a floating base with a diameter of 2,000 m. Research is in progress to make Green Float a reality. In the first phase, construction planning and technical development were undertaken to realize the floating structure offshore. This paper reports on the construction planning and technologies devised in this project.
