Abstract:

Due to scouring effect, the dynamic properties of bridge will be affected greatly. Meanwhile, vibrations due to various environmental excitations will be more and more prominent. In this paper, a steel curved bridge was investigated considering scouring effect. Firstly, the dynamic properties of the bridge were studied under different scouring depths. It was found that, the scouring would reduce the basic lateral frequency obviously. Subsequently, wave induced vibration analysis was performed by stochastic spectral analysis; while wind and vehicle induced vibration analysis was performed by transient dynamic analysis. Parameter studies were carried out considering some factors, such as damping ratios, wave periods, effective wave height, as well as the scouring depths. The results showed that the lateral vibration of the bridge due to wave load and lateral vibration of the bridge due to wind and vehicle load were both highly affected by the scouring depths. In the end, on-site testing verification was addressed and some analysis results were verified.
