Construction of the original suspension system using the Gisclard system with the structural pieces imported from France.

28 September 1983

The bridge collapses after severe flooding which topples the eastern pylon.

April 2000
— April 2001

The bridge is rebuilt according to the original design using the Gisclard system of suspension and any salvageable original part.
