Notes
Simon Petliura, president of the Ukrainian Republic (1918-1920) was mortaly shot by a Jewish Anarchist on rue Racine in Paris' Latin Quarter. The president was transported to the chapel of the medical school on the corner of rue des Saints-Pères and Saint-Germain where he died. The chapel very quickly became a site of pilgramage for the many Ukrainians exiled in France. Eventually, the Roman Catholic church transferred the chapel to the Ukrainians of Byzantine (Greek Catholic) rite for permanent worship.
