Arkansas Department of Transportation starts purchasing land for the approaches on the Arkansas side.

Notes

Mississippi House Concurrent Resolution 94 (1999) and Arkansas HCR 1011 (2003) designate the bridge as "Charles W. Dean Bridge", in memory of the engineer who proposed building the bridge in 1984.
