Abstract:

On the stability of slurry corner trenches.
The overall stability calculations of non planar open trenches used in the course of the D-Wall construction is not covered by the existing regulations in Germany and even not an easy task. The present paper provides new findings arisen from 3D FE-simulations and comparisons with analytical models based on extended model of the DIN 4126 in order to ascertain the influence of the width of non-planar D-Wall panels on the stability of the open trench. The basic ideas for the design calculations dealing with simplified models for non-planar panels have been presented in [1] and due to the feed back from the application in practise some modifications of the simplified analysis have been carried out in order to facilitate the application of the model for large panel widths.
