At the California Department of Transportation, a special aesthetics unit works closely with the design engineers in the Division of Structures, which has won almost 400 prizes for its beautiful bridges. Together, the designers strive for minimal visual impact upon the landscape. The Aesthetics Unit also works with local advisory committees that are strongly interested in what the state is designing for their neighborhoods. |
