Abstract:	Earthquake safety of masonry structures. With the revised version of Austrian Standard ÖNORM B 1998-1:2011, a revision of the ÖNORM B1996-3: 2009 as well as available international (ESECMaSE) and national (ÖIBI Bestandsmauerwerk) research results the vertical and horizontal actions and resistances of masonry structures can be evaluated. After more detailed calculation these do not present themselves as bad as they appear in a simplified view.
