Bolted joints and connections according to Eurocode 3.
The German version of Eurocode 3 part 1-8 was published in July 2005 as DIN EN 1993-18 and provides design and construction rules for bolted joints and connections under static loads. Furthermore, DIN EN 1993-1-8 provides detailed application rules for the classification and the design resistance of end plate connections and for the design resistance of hollow section joints.
The present paper gives an overview on the basic design and construction rules for bolted joints according to DIN EN 1993-1-8 and explains the basic principles of the component method.
